Community Brainstorming Session:

A Better H19 (Staunton Street/Wing Lee Street) Plan for a Better Environment

The Central and Western District is one of the most densely-built districts in Hong Kong. In recent years, the redevelopment of many old buildings into new high-rises has raised great concern amongst the local community, especially with regard to the adverse environmental and traffic impact of these developments. Since the Urban Renewal Authority announced the H19 Staunton Street/Wing Lee Street redevelopment scheme early this year and the subsequent public consultation held by the Town Planning Board in April, community members have expressed various degree of concern. The TPB has received over 1500 objections to this project and the URA has applied to defer the hearing. It is now time for the public to tell the government what they think is the best plan for H19!

This Community Brainstorming Session organised by the Central & Western District Council will seek to hear more public opinions and to address public concerns regarding the H19 project. It is hoped that community engagement can contribute to a better H19 plan and bring about genuine environmental improvement to the Central & Western District.
